下半句是“美人难过卖酸摊”。这不是说女人爱吃酸食，其实是道出了世间女子的通病：爱吃醋。

关于女人爱吃醋还有个典故，有一次唐太宗宴请宰相房玄龄，酒足饭饱之后，皇帝念及房玄龄劳苦功高，便乘着酒兴赐给了他两个美人做妾。

There is a story about women's love of jealousy. On one occasion, Emperor Taizong of Tang invited Prime Minister Fang Xuanling at a banquet. After they drank and ate enough,the emperor thought that Fang Xuanling worked hard and made great achievements, so,a little drunk,he gave him two beauties to be concubines.

可这事却愁坏了房玄龄，想到其妻是个嫉妒心很重的人，他不知如何是好。

毕竟这两个美人是皇帝所赐，他不能当场抗旨，便战战兢兢地领着两个小妾回家。

没想到房玄龄的妻子想也没想就喝下了那坛毒酒，幸好皇帝只是试探，预先将毒酒换成了醋。
