钱氏家训名人

俗话说:富不过三代,孟子也曾说过:君子之泽,五世而斩。而钱氏家族,却兴盛千余年,人才济济,不得不说是创造了一个奇迹,而这个奇迹是靠每一代人的努力传承创造的。

As the saying goes, 'Wealth cannot be greater than three generations.' Mencius also said, 'The glory of a gentleman is to be beheaded for five generations.'. The Qian family, on the other hand, has flourished for over a thousand years, with numerous talents.

所以即使祖上有好的家训,却也未必能传承下来。钱氏家训,承载着中国传统文化一脉相承的有关个人、家庭、社会和国家一些训道和规则。在今天看来,非但没有过时,而且更值得发扬光大。

So even if there are good family teachings from ancestors, they may not be able to be passed down. The Qian family motto carries some personal, family, social, and national teachings and rules that are inherited from traditional Chinese culture.

说起钱氏家族的起源,要追溯至五代十国时期,距今已有一千年了,吴越国(今浙江一带)的创始人钱镠先生,也是吴越国王,他除了治国有方,治家更是严谨,而且他并无江山要据为己有的野心。

When it comes to the origin of the Qian family, it can be traced back to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, which has been a thousand years now. Mr. Qian Liu, the founder of the Wuyue Kingdom (now in the Zhejiang region), is also the King of Wuyue.

临终时他对子孙说,如果遇到明君,要去归顺。而他的后代,也谨记他的教诲,在他的孙子辈(钱弘俶),大宋18年,吴越国归顺大宋,不动一兵一卒,和平让渡,真正让百姓富庶,远离兵戈,江浙也成了富裕的鱼米之乡。

At his deathbed, he said to his descendants that if he met Mingjun, he would go and surrender. And his descendants also remembered his teachings. In his grandson (Qian Hongchu), in the 18th year of the Great Song Dynasty... Jiangsu and Zhejiang also became a prosperous land of fish and rice.

钱王钱镠治家有家训,今天我们看到的钱氏家训,便是出自于钱王的治家八训,当然现在读到的版本,应该是清末整理后的新版本了。这不仅是一份简单的家训,更是钱氏家族一份珍贵的精神遗产。

There is a family motto for Qian Liu, the King of Qian, in governing the family. Today, we see the Qian family motto, which is derived from the Eight Family Instructions of Qian Wang.

家训个人篇的开篇就讲到“心术不可得罪于天地,言行皆当无愧于圣贤。”这一为人之根本需要奠定的基础,起点就很高。也就是起心动念或为人处世不可得罪天地,心术虽可不言说,但言行能道出一切。

At the beginning of the personal chapter on family teachings, it is said that "one should not offend heaven and earth with their mental skills, and their words and actions should be worthy of the saints and sages."

宇宙及世间,总有一种形而上学的“道”,这大概也是中国哲学的起源,就如我们常说的“人在做,天在看。”我们对天地的“道”要存有敬畏的心。而言行的指导榜样便是圣贤之人。

There is always a metaphysical "Tao" in the universe and the world, which is probably the origin of Chinese philosophy. As we often say, "Man is doing, the sky is watching." We should have a reverence for the "Tao" of heaven and earth.

就个人而言,见贤思齐,而不是看别人不如自己的地方而自得,这便是修身了。不忘曾子的一日三省,孔子所说的“克己复礼”;持躬谨严,临财廉介;处事决断,存心宽厚;蓄养道德才会有好的福报。

Personally speaking, it is self-cultivation to think in line with the wise, rather than complacent about what others are not as good as oneself. Do not forget Zengzi's three reflections on a day, as Confucius called "self deprecating and returning to propriety".

现世常听到一些抱怨,诸如时运不济、怀才不遇或者遇人不淑等等,其实都没有仔细想想自己做了些什么,有没有一直蓄养道德呢?如果没有福报要从哪里来呢?这部家训向我们道出了缘由。

I often hear complaints in this world, such as bad luck, lack of talent, or bad behavior in people, but I haven't really thought about what I have done. Have I always cultivated morality? Where do you come from without blessings? This family motto explains the reason to us.

在家庭篇中,印象最为深刻的是“祖宗虽远,祭祀宜诚;子孙虽愚,诗书须读。娶媳求淑女,勿计妆奁;嫁女择佳婿,勿慕富贵。”虽说小家庭单位已经很少有正式的祭祖活动,但心中是否仍对祖先存有深深的敬意呢?

In the family chapter, the most impressive one is "although the ancestors are far away, it is advisable to offer sacrifices sincerely; although the descendants are foolish, they must read poetry and books.

现在的子孙,无论聪明的愚笨的,几乎很少有读诗书了(《诗经》和《尚书》),读的都是有用的科学知识,当然这也是时代的发展需要,但若从小学的基础教育开始放入一些传统文化的基本内容,不又是一个好的开端吗?

Nowadays, descendants, whether intelligent or foolish, rarely read books of poetry (such as the Book of Songs and the Book of Shangshu), which are all useful scientific knowledge.

当年砸烂孔家店及横扫一切牛鬼蛇神,把中国几千年的文化遗产消除尽怠,这是中国人民极大的精神损失。建国以后几代人的教育体系里再没有孔子、老子、孟子,更加不知道他们的论著和思想,于是所谓的“批判地接受,取其精华,去其糟粕”也成了一句空话。

在娶妻嫁女的家训里,更加值得今人反思。今人嫁娶的观念与此相去甚远,看看钱钟书的妻子和钱三强的妻子,我们便知道了什么是最贤的妻。

我们在忧心不婚率和离婚率高的时候,有没有想一想是否是自己的价值观出现了偏误呢?当我们难得因为母亲不逼女儿要车房钱交往男友而赞叹时,殊不知一千年前的钱氏家训,已经明确地列出了这条。我们的问题是我们自己走错了路。

When we are worried about the high rate of non marriage and divorce demography, do we think about whether our values are biased? When we rarely marvel at our mother's refusal to force her daughter to pay for a car rental to date a boyfriend.

家训之社会篇中提出的“私见尽要铲除,公益概行提倡”为我们提出了一个社会人的要求,此为我辈应该汗颜的,一千年前钱氏家族就以古圣先贤的行为准则来要求自己的子孙后代,而今社会整体的道德水准是滑坡的。

The social section of Family Instructions proposes that "private opinions should be eradicated, and public welfare should be advocated", which puts forward a demand for us as social beings.

当一个社会热点的问题出现时,我们第一个反应就是指责社会制度或者政府行政部门,很少去反省自身,而且最乐意做的事情就是以道德的制高点去评判他人或环境,而非自己。其实社会风气也好,全民素质也罢,不就是我们一个个的个人的集体组合吗?如果我们每个人都能以家训的要求去做的话,社会一定会比现在更加美好。

When a hot social issue arises, our first reaction is to blame the social system or government administrative departments, rarely reflecting on ourselves, and the most willing thing to do is to judge others or the environment from a moral standpoint, rather than ourselves.

家训的最后是国家篇,是讲社会政治、为官治国之根本。放在今天,如果官场能以此家训为守则,并且这样逐条要求自己,会少多少的贪官污吏啊。

The final part of the family motto is the national chapter, which is the fundamental aspect of social politics and governing the country as an official. Today, if the officialdom could follow this family motto and demand themselves one by one, how many corrupt officials would be reduced.

所以一部朴素的家训,明白地告诉我们中国儒家文化的总结——即修身齐家治国平天下的思想体系(原文出自《礼记大学》),作为中国人,真的需要去了解我们老祖宗留下的文化遗产,因为这是我们代代相传的根基所在。

So a simple family motto clearly tells us the summary of Chinese Confucian culture - the ideological system of cultivating one's character, governing the country, and leveling the world (originally from the "Book of Rites University").

如果有机会,我们都应该去学习一下这个家训,对于为人、处世、交友、成长有着极大的裨益。这部家训,也让我们去思考,我们短暂的一生转眼即逝,我们究竟要留给子孙后代怎样的遗产呢?
